The first of three explosive pulp thrillers arriving back-to-back from cult crime fiction sensation and Marvel Comics scribe Duane Swierczynski. Duane Swierczynski is the author of several crime thrillers and also writes the X-Men spinoff CABLE for Marvel Comics and IMMORTAL IRON FIST. His latest novels include EXPIRATION DATE; LEVEL TWENTY-SIX, cowritten with CSI creator Anthony E. Zuicker; and SEVERANCE PACKAGE, which has been optioned by Lionsgate films. There are a few shocks in store and although I had a pretty good idea what would happen towards the end I didn't quite get everything right! Although a very pacey read, the book appears to quicken up in the last third of the book and I guarantee you won't want to put it down until its denouement.Zany crime caper that reads just like a cartoon story and does what it says on the tin. The hero, Ex-cop Charlie Hardie (Road-Runner), and Mann, the big-breasted female baddie (Wile E. Coyote), backed by a great supporting cast.
Hardly surprising when you realise that Duane also writes for comic books , his understanding of how to weave a graphic and comic tale shines through this book. He has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Comics and is co-writing a screenplay of one of his earlier works. His fiction draws heavily on crime noir themes, making frequent use of femmes fatale, hence Mann in this tale.
Cop Hardie's latest job is a house sitter at an isolated mansion. Easy life, watching old movies and drinking bourbon. But it comes with an uninvited guest, a D rated actress (Lane Madden) who says she's being hunted by professional hitmen. Hardie thinks she's paranoid, but he's wrong. Mann's hi-tech team - The Accident People - are well prepared to take them both out - preferably in body bags.
But when the action arrives, Hardie's not the sort of guy to lie down and he fights back to protect Lane Madden - and his own past demons from surfacing again.
It's fast, furious, and funny. With a story line that is part credible and part creative - but always entertaining. I rarely read a book in one, or even two, sittings - but this one gripped throughout and had me wanting more. Some brilliant one-liners from Hardie, even in desperate situations.
What critics call a page-turner, all 280 pages. I can't wait to read the next one, Hell and Gone. Duane Swiercznski (remember the name) is here to stay - big time.

Therefore if your boat has a motor, regardless of horsepower, and the motor is attached to the boat in any way, regardless if its in use, it is classified as a powered watercraft.
The idea of obtaining a boating license might initially sound like a hassle but the process is actually quite simple. Within a matter of hours it is possible to complete the entire boater exam process.
How easy is it to obtain your PCOC license? Step one is determining what is your best study and test method - online or in person. Step two is finding an accredited course provider. You're providing what they want. But the only way you can find out what they want is to ask them. See what changes you need to make to your product or service to best suit your customers needs.
4. Under promise and over deliver. You want your customers to be raving about you and your business. Firstly give them what they want. Then go the extra mile and give them something more that they weren't even expecting. What is it that you can provide your customers that is over and above what they would expect?
5. Give value. In today's world business is about giving value. You have to come from a place where your intent is about delivering value to clients. Give them more and more value. It's not about dropping your price, it's about giving more value. While your competition are dropping their prices, they won't be able to sustain their business. Find ways of how you can give more value to your customers.
6. Change how you do things. Businesses in similar categories for example accountants, solicitors, restaurants...the great majority of them set up in business the exact same way as their competitors. But who's to say it's the right way? The businesses that set up differently, providing what they're customers want, will typically be the ongoing leaders in their field. It takes discipline and a strong desire to be productive in order to best manage your time. Here are my top 10 tips for better time management. By implementing these strategies you will find yourself getting more done each day and doing things that are more purposeful to your company.
The first thing to understand about time management is this... We do what we like to do and we do what we are good at. I do not like doing expense reports and I am not as good as I would like to be at using Excel. So that's why doing expense reports falls to the bottom of my list and I never seem to get them done. If something else better comes along, I will gladly put my expenses aside for ANY other task.
It is critical to know what you don't like to do and what you are not good at. Those things will go to the bottom of your list and usually do not get done. Develop a plan to become proficient at those things and then once it is easier for you to do, you will also like doing it more. And when you enjoy doing something, you tend to do it faster.
Get mentally prepared for things you don't like to do and force yourself to do them when they need to be done. As I am driving into work in the morning, I will tell myself "I have to do my expenses as soon as I get there." I have to be disciplined to make sure that I keep my commitment to myself. Being disciplined is half the time management battle.
Do the things you don't like to do first thing so that you can treat yourself to the things you do like to do later in the day. I get the monkeys off my back first and then I treat myself to doing something that I do like to do. My best friend when it comes to time management is an egg timer. I will set the timer to a specific amount of time and will push myself to get something done in a certain length of time. It is like having a race with myself to see how fast I can get to the finish line. Then after I am done, I will go back and review the quality.
Put items on your calendar rather than just making a to-do list. To-do lists are endless and you may feel discouraged because you still have things left on your list at the end of the day. First thing in the morning, get out your calendar and put the things on there that are already scheduled (meetings, conference calls, interviews, etc.). Then put the items on there that you need to do like coaching your employees. If you actually schedule time for coaching your employees, you will find that you will get that done.
Now set time aside on your calendar for items that need to be done and make a specific list of them- Send emails to the following people. Make the following phone calls and write the following memos. Block that time on your calendar just like it is an appointment.
Put into effect the "10 minute rule". If something is taking you 10 minutes or more to figure out, you have probably exhausted your resources and it is time to step back and get creative. Is there someone else who may know where to find this information? Is someone more knowledgeable about this topic and would be able to show you the short cuts?
