Make sure you know what's covered in your medical insurance. You may need additional coverage in case you have an accident in a different state. This is more crucial if you go camping in another country. Always be prepared.

Have you just bought your first tent as a rookie camper? It's vital to learn all that you can before you leave about your tent. This will enable you to learn how to pitch the tent properly and make sure all of the equipment is fully functional. This will also speed up your ability to pitch a tent and keep you safe if nighttime is approaching when you're ready to camp. Bring some toilet paper and baby wipes with you when camping. You could use leaves, but there's no reason to since baby wipes and toilet paper are so much easier on the skin.

Make sure you have all the gear you need before you leave your driveway. It would be a shame to arrive at your campsite only to realize you have forgotten some important items, like food and water. Double check all your supplies to make sure they are accounted for and in working condition. Do this before you leave.

When you're packing up to go camping, don't forget lighting essentials such as flashlights and batteries to operate them, hats to protect from sunburn and any toiletries you may need (in travel sizes of course!) Finding your way around in the dark won't be easy without a flashlight, and you're going to need matches to start that fire. Hats are great for sun protection and keeping messy hair hidden, while your toiletries will allow you stay somewhat clean.

You should leave firewood at your campsite for the next visitors to enjoy. This isn't required, by any means, but it's a kind thing to do. People may be behind schedule and not arrive in time to search for firewood within daylight hours. It is a considerate thing to do, even though campsites do not require it.

Newspaper can come in handy in many ways when you camp. It is great to have for reading material; however, it's uses don't stop there. Use dry newspaper to start a fire if you are unable to find enough firewood thanks to the rain.

Even though camping is a fun and popular getaway, things can turn sour without the right planning. With any luck, this article should have given you some useful tips to have a great time and enjoy the next camping trip.
